The Miserable shines a light on the shadow of Victor Hugo, Juliette Drouet, who recounts 50 years of a mad love and mutual influence. It is the docility of an unruly woman who took on the task of accompanying the greatest poet of all time to see his work through to completion. Juliette is his heroine, his muse, his passion, his copyist, his inspirer, but also his prisoner. Victor locks her in a small room for 14 years to have her all to himself. She will write him thousands of letters, while remaining his eternal support, devoted body and soul. Two inseparable beings rocked by a secret and obsessive love, for better and for worse!
